Hello Crystal Faye

The obsession that I have over blogs is something my mom is guilty of as well.  It's not a bad thing by any means, but it is something that can keep you from not doing things that need to be done.  Anyways, we like to share with each other new blogs and clothing websites we find.  A few weeks ago she shared with me a website called Crystal Faye.  Since I am on Spring Break I am able to relax, and I actually have time to finally explore the site.  This website has tons of monograms, jewelry, accessories, and paper.  Most of the products are decently priced too.

These are a few of my favorites from the website:

Words of Wisdom (four)

I love this quote. I find these words very comforting considering where I am at in life.  There are so many unknown variables right now, some of which I have control over and others not so much.  Lately I just seem to be telling myself that everything happens for a reason, and then I become excited for finding that reason in the future.

World of Jenks

Last night was the season premier of the second season of the MTV show World of Jenks.  I love this show, watching it just makes you feel good.  This season feature a fellow blogger! Her story is a sad one though, she is battling cancer and is only 23 years old.  After the show last night I looked up her blog, Cancer is Hilarious.  Kaylin blogs about her move from San Francisco to New York in pursing her dreams as a designer.  Her blog is based upon her constant battle of cancer.  Hearing her story just makes me really appreciate what I have.  I encourage you to check out her blog, reading her posts just put life into perspective.

Liebster Award

So I'm sure you are all wondering how I got this award.  For those of you who are part of the blogging world are quite familiar with the Liebster Award.  I would like to thank Em from A Pile of Good Things for nominating me! I was so excited when I found out I was nominated, it's always reassuring to know that people actually read what you write. Be sure to check out Em's blog, I am one of her followers!

What the Liebster Award is: "Liebster" is a German word meaning kind, sweet, or generous.
  • Once nominated by another blogger, the blogger has to answer a set of questions asked to them by the person who nominated them, and then pass it on to other blogs they think would deserve the award if they chose to do so!
  • List 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions asked to you, write your own 11 questions, and nominate 11 other up and coming blogs.
  • Also in the post, you should thank whoever nominated you and attach a link of their blog, out of courtesy.
  • It is a great way to acknowledge other awesome blogs and bloggers and to get to know fellow bloggers better!

3. I have an obsession with Pinterest.
4. I wish I was at the beach.
5. I am extremely organized.
6. I love scarves.

8. I love stripes.
9. Fashion fascinates me.
10. I actually enjoy consignment shopping.
11. I love my long hair.

11 Questions For Me:

1. What is your favorite book?
To be honest I can't even remember the last book I read just for pleasure.  With all of the reading I have to do for school when I have free time I don't really want to spend it reading... Some books I've enjoyed in the past The Notebook, My Sister's Keeper, The Fountainhead (I had to read this for AP Lit and hated it at the time but looking back it is actually a really good book!)
2. What's the worst part about blogging?
Getting bloggers block- not being able to think of something to post.
3. What's your favorite place to shop at?
I don't have a favorite store but some of my favorites are FrancescasJcrewPlato's ClosetForever 21, and Anthropologie.
4. How do you get the hang of Thursdays?
This is an odd question...I actually always hated Thursdays because it was the day that was a tease, it's not the beginning of the week but it's not the weekend either.  A typical Thursday for me at school is working in the morning, pilates class after lunch, and then a night class.
5. What's one makeup/beauty product you can't live without?
To be honest I don't usually wear makeup, but when I do mascara is an essential.
6. If you could see anyone in concert who would it be and why?
Maroon 5! I love Adam Levine.
7. What would you say to someone who wanted to start blogging?
Don't be afraid, just do it! To get the hang of it follow some blogs for a few months then start your own.
8. What's the best part about you? (No skipping this question)
This is a tough one: I think the fact that I am loyal is a very important aspect of what makes me who I am.
9. What scares you the most about the future?
Not knowing what is going to happen...
10. Where's Waldo?
In a striped shirt hiding somewhere.
11. If you could relive one day over again, what day would it be and why?
I have no idea- I never really thought about this. Last Wednesday was a bad day for me so maybe I'd like to live that over again?

My 11 Questions to Pass On:

1. Why do you blog?
2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
3. What is the most difficult thing about blogging?
4. What five words would you choose to describe yourself?
5. What is your favorite blog?
6. What season do you like best?
7. What do you never leave your house without?
8. Beach house or mountain house?
9. What is your favorite quote?
10. What scares you the most about the future?
11. What is something in your wardrobe you couldn't live without?

Real Friendships

"True friendship isn't about being inseparable, it's about being separated and nothing changes."

When you go to college a lot of things change.  I have found that people who I was close with in high school I barely talk to anymore.  However, there are others who I have become even closer with.  Going to college everyone makes new friends, and to maintain old friendships while creating new ones can often times be difficult.  It is a true test of who your real friends, from high school, are.  This past weekend I was fortunate to be reunited with two of my best friends.  It was a lot of fun for them to meet the people that they have heard so much about from all my stories, and for my friends at college to meet them.

jRk and mIr have been my close friends since elementary school.  Sure we have had our ups and downs, but we have been through so much together that our friendship will always be there to rely on when times get tough.  After a stressful week at school, seeing them was just what I needed to refresh myself for a long week of midterms.  These girls define the quote above.  We may go to different schools, but regardless of the distance we will always be there for each other. Also I just want to give them a shout out for following my blog, love you girls!

Motivation Wall

As you read in my previous post I had a Friday night in last night to relax.  I decided to just take a break from everything and do some crafts.  I just felt like some creativity would be beneficial to my mental health.  It helps relieve some stress.  What better inspiration for crafting than Pinterest.

After going on a pinning spree I came across this Motivational Wall Pin.  After the week I just had I needed some positivity and motivation in my life, so I decided to make my own.  This is the one that I made.  It took some time to find the quotes, and make it the way that I liked.  It is still a work of progress.  I like it because it just gives me some motivation and inspiration when I need it.

This is one of my favorite quotes that I made. I think it is so cute and such a great saying.

Friday night (in)

I can not believe that today is March 1st already! It seems like February didn't even happen.  The next week is super busy with midterms and all the fun that comes with it (papers due, exams, take home tests, quizzes, and presentations).  I'm trying really hard not to get stressed, but it is quite challenging to balance everything at times. Sometimes I just need to remember to take a step back from everything and just breathe.  Tonight I've decided to just stay in and relax.

Friday Night In:

  1. Snacks: While being productive and relaxing I'm sure I will have a few snacks.  One of them being chips and salsa. I love this, it's such a good snack!
  2. Bravo: I will most likely spend some time watching something on Bravo, my TV network of choice, or a movie on netflix.
  3. Homework: Only seven days until Spring Break, which means midterms are here.  I have so many projects, papers, etc. to do right now.  I plan on getting a head start on next week's work in order to limit my stress level.
  4. iPhone: Of course I''ll spend some time on my phone texting, adding new music, maybe playing a few games, looking at instagram, and maybe even tweeting too.

Fun Fact: I have reached 1,000 views on my blog! Thanks to all my followers, keep following and commenting!

Organizing Tee Shirts

Organizing tee shirts can be the hardest thing, especially when your space is limited.  When I came to college I didn't bring half of the amount of tee  shirts I had.  Over the years of playing sports, attending camps, attending events, etc. I have accumulated a significant amount of tee shirts. I claim to wear them all, but we all know I have favorites.  So naturally it only made sense to bring the ones that I wear more often.  Coming to college, my tee shirt collection seems to have grown.  There are always tee shirts given out for free or sold for a minimal price, hard to resist.  With the limited storage in a dorm, it is difficult to store all of these shirts.  So I decided to go on pinterest and look up organization ideas. I came across the Perfect Pin. It gave a description of how to fold tee shirts so that more of them fit into one drawer.
This was the picture I found on pinterest.
As you have read, I am obsessed with being organized so I'm all about this!
This is my version of organizing the tee shirts. It didn't even take much more time to fold than my normal way.

When I was finished I was able to fit forty tee shirts in my dresser drawer and only take up half of the space.  This is such a clever technique.  I highly recommend it!

Fitness

I've been in a blah mood all day, so I headed to the gym after classes today.  It was definitely the best choice. I needed to go to do our mandatory team lift, but once I was done with that I did five miles on the bike & a ten minute ab workout.  I feel so refreshed now both mentally and physically.
I ate really bad this weekend, so I am trying to be better this week. I'm not concerned with my weight but I just feel better when I eat well and go to the gym.  I like to be healthy and fit

My advice to eating well:

  1. Breakfast is a must!
  2. I personally eat little and often. What I mean by this is that I eat small proportions of food and I eat about five to six times a day.  (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack)
  3. I try to eat at least four veggies a day and at least one fruit
  4. Try new things, eating at college is difficult to add variety, so I try to try at least one new thing a day.
  5. Don't indulge in sweets. I usually just eat one piece of chocolate or fruit after my meal.

What are some of your fitness and health tips?

Friday Five

1.  Be Curly by Aveda: This is a record for me, I have gone an entire week without straightening my hair. I have been wearing it natural, curly.  I love this Aveda product because it enhances my natural hair while making sure it is not frizzy.

2. Happy Birthday to George Washington! This weekend is Birthday Ball weekend here at my school. We celebrate George's Birthday with a huge dance on Saturday night.  It is supposedly the biggest event on campus all year.  The upper class men all are so excited, but as a freshmen I am not sure what to expect so the excitement has yet to arrive.  On the plus side I get to see tDn since he is coming down to go to the dance and festivities with me.

3. Essie Good as Gold Nail Polish: Since my dress for the dance is a champagne color I thought gold would be a fun color for my nails. I have been searching for a few months for a good gold colored nail polish. Finally I have found a good one! Essie has yet to disappoint me.

4. Overexposed by Maroon 5: I just bought this album. I absolutely love it! I have always been a fan of Maroon 5, so I just couldn't resist buying it any longer.
5. Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins: Last week when I came back to school sQs sent me with some homemade chocolate chip banana muffins.  They are to die for. I love them! It hasn't even been a week and the muffins are pretty much all gone.

Knit One Pearl One

Recently I have been getting a lot of comments on the two knit infinity scarves I have.  My mom made one for me, and I made the second one.  Yes that's right I made it!  Over winter break I had absolutely nothing to do, so I decided to take up knitting again.  My mom is big into knitting so she taught me again. It came back to me quickly since I had learned when I was in fourth grade.

This light gray scarf is the one my mom made.

I made this brown one.

I am currently working on another scarf.  This one is a dark gray color.  These scarves are great to wear with anything.  They can make a casual outfit look nicer.  Another bonus is that not only are they fashionable but they are really warm too!

This is my current work in progress.  I find knitting quite relaxing. It is a good thing to do to pass time or just to unwind at the end of the day.  The pattern for this infinity scarf can be found by clicking the link here: Infinity Scarf Pattern.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday (three)

I think a lot of the time we get caught up in our busy lives.  We tend to dwell on the bad things that happened during the day, which often times causes us to forget the good things that happened throughout the day.  Sure every day is not going to be the best day you ever had, but there has to be at least one thing that went well in your day.  I think it is important to remember to not take life or the people in your life for granted because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.  Try to think of three things that happened in your day before you go to bed at night.  This will help circulate more positivity into your life.

What happens When I Check My Mailbox

There is nothing that a college student loves more than to get mail, especially when it is a care package from home!  This morning I got a care package and three birthday cards that each had money in them!  It was such a nice surprise! The cards were from two of my aunts and my Grandma.  The care package was from my parents for Valentine's day but because I went home last week, I wasn't able to pick it up until today.  The care package had Dove chocolates, bobby pins from Anthropologie, an iTunes gifttcard, gum, a card, and french post it notes.
The post it notes are french.  My mom clearly knows I have an obsession with anything that has to to with France!

The bobby pins are adorable! I can not wait to use them! I think hair accessories like this are good to have.  They help make a boring outfit more exciting, or  a bad hair day look good.
Shout out to my mom for knowing me so well! I love you mom, thanks for the package!

Netflix

Netflix is a great thing to have when you are sick.  My family has an account, so they can watch movies at home and I can watch then while I am here at school for just a low cost each month.  I often get frustrated with this though because I find that it is hard to find good TV shows or movies on instant stream.

While I was home last week, sick.  I spent a large amount of my time laying on the couch watching tv and sleeping.  I found that there are only so many talk shows you can watch before you start to get bored.  So I chose to use Netflix to watch something other than these stupid morning talk shows.  I thought it would be a good blog post to put up some of the movies and TV shows I found, in case of  my blog readers also have this problem on Netflix.

TV Shows Worth Watching!

1. Gossip Girl
I absolutely love this show. It is always a good choice on Netflix.
2. Greek
Just recently I started watching this show. I think it is actually pretty funny.

3. Laguna Beach
This is always a classic.

4. The Hills
Who doesn't love Lauren Conrad.

Movies Worth Watching!

1. The Wedding Planner
Everybody loves a romantic comedy with JLO.

2. No Strings Attached
Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman such a great combination.

3. The Lorax
I love Dr. Seuss! This is a cute movie for people of all ages

4. The Switch
You can never go wrong with a movie that has Jennifer Aniston.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday (two)

I've been not feeling to well the past two days.  I am trying to stay positive that I won't get worse and miss workouts or classes.  I found an article, Power of Positivity , that talks about being positive.  It explains how being positive leads to optimal health both mentally and physically.

The Grammys

Sorry I meant to post this yesterday, but I had no free time.  As I mentioned in prior posts I am involved with Relay For Life. Yesterday I went to the Hope Lodge with several members from my committee to make dinner for the cancer patients staying there. The lodge is a place where cancer patients who are going through treatment can stay for free.  I was able to eat with several of the patients and their family. It was such a great experience.  It was definitely a rewarding way to spend my birthday.

Anyways... onto the Grammys.  I absolutely LOVED Adam Levine's performance and when he performed with Alicia Keys.  Below is a video from YouTube from their performances.
