Organizing Tee Shirts

Organizing tee shirts can be the hardest thing, especially when your space is limited.  When I came to college I didn't bring half of the amount of tee  shirts I had.  Over the years of playing sports, attending camps, attending events, etc. I have accumulated a significant amount of tee shirts. I claim to wear them all, but we all know I have favorites.  So naturally it only made sense to bring the ones that I wear more often.  Coming to college, my tee shirt collection seems to have grown.  There are always tee shirts given out for free or sold for a minimal price, hard to resist.  With the limited storage in a dorm, it is difficult to store all of these shirts.  So I decided to go on pinterest and look up organization ideas. I came across the Perfect Pin. It gave a description of how to fold tee shirts so that more of them fit into one drawer.
This was the picture I found on pinterest.
As you have read, I am obsessed with being organized so I'm all about this!
This is my version of organizing the tee shirts. It didn't even take much more time to fold than my normal way.

When I was finished I was able to fit forty tee shirts in my dresser drawer and only take up half of the space.  This is such a clever technique.  I highly recommend it!

Fitness

I've been in a blah mood all day, so I headed to the gym after classes today.  It was definitely the best choice. I needed to go to do our mandatory team lift, but once I was done with that I did five miles on the bike & a ten minute ab workout.  I feel so refreshed now both mentally and physically.
I ate really bad this weekend, so I am trying to be better this week. I'm not concerned with my weight but I just feel better when I eat well and go to the gym.  I like to be healthy and fit

My advice to eating well:

  1. Breakfast is a must!
  2. I personally eat little and often. What I mean by this is that I eat small proportions of food and I eat about five to six times a day.  (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack)
  3. I try to eat at least four veggies a day and at least one fruit
  4. Try new things, eating at college is difficult to add variety, so I try to try at least one new thing a day.
  5. Don't indulge in sweets. I usually just eat one piece of chocolate or fruit after my meal.

What are some of your fitness and health tips?

Friday Five

1.  Be Curly by Aveda: This is a record for me, I have gone an entire week without straightening my hair. I have been wearing it natural, curly.  I love this Aveda product because it enhances my natural hair while making sure it is not frizzy.

2. Happy Birthday to George Washington! This weekend is Birthday Ball weekend here at my school. We celebrate George's Birthday with a huge dance on Saturday night.  It is supposedly the biggest event on campus all year.  The upper class men all are so excited, but as a freshmen I am not sure what to expect so the excitement has yet to arrive.  On the plus side I get to see tDn since he is coming down to go to the dance and festivities with me.

3. Essie Good as Gold Nail Polish: Since my dress for the dance is a champagne color I thought gold would be a fun color for my nails. I have been searching for a few months for a good gold colored nail polish. Finally I have found a good one! Essie has yet to disappoint me.

4. Overexposed by Maroon 5: I just bought this album. I absolutely love it! I have always been a fan of Maroon 5, so I just couldn't resist buying it any longer.
5. Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins: Last week when I came back to school sQs sent me with some homemade chocolate chip banana muffins.  They are to die for. I love them! It hasn't even been a week and the muffins are pretty much all gone.

Knit One Pearl One

Recently I have been getting a lot of comments on the two knit infinity scarves I have.  My mom made one for me, and I made the second one.  Yes that's right I made it!  Over winter break I had absolutely nothing to do, so I decided to take up knitting again.  My mom is big into knitting so she taught me again. It came back to me quickly since I had learned when I was in fourth grade.

This light gray scarf is the one my mom made.

I made this brown one.

I am currently working on another scarf.  This one is a dark gray color.  These scarves are great to wear with anything.  They can make a casual outfit look nicer.  Another bonus is that not only are they fashionable but they are really warm too!

This is my current work in progress.  I find knitting quite relaxing. It is a good thing to do to pass time or just to unwind at the end of the day.  The pattern for this infinity scarf can be found by clicking the link here: Infinity Scarf Pattern.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday (three)

I think a lot of the time we get caught up in our busy lives.  We tend to dwell on the bad things that happened during the day, which often times causes us to forget the good things that happened throughout the day.  Sure every day is not going to be the best day you ever had, but there has to be at least one thing that went well in your day.  I think it is important to remember to not take life or the people in your life for granted because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.  Try to think of three things that happened in your day before you go to bed at night.  This will help circulate more positivity into your life.

What happens When I Check My Mailbox

There is nothing that a college student loves more than to get mail, especially when it is a care package from home!  This morning I got a care package and three birthday cards that each had money in them!  It was such a nice surprise! The cards were from two of my aunts and my Grandma.  The care package was from my parents for Valentine's day but because I went home last week, I wasn't able to pick it up until today.  The care package had Dove chocolates, bobby pins from Anthropologie, an iTunes gifttcard, gum, a card, and french post it notes.
The post it notes are french.  My mom clearly knows I have an obsession with anything that has to to with France!

The bobby pins are adorable! I can not wait to use them! I think hair accessories like this are good to have.  They help make a boring outfit more exciting, or  a bad hair day look good.
Shout out to my mom for knowing me so well! I love you mom, thanks for the package!

Netflix

Netflix is a great thing to have when you are sick.  My family has an account, so they can watch movies at home and I can watch then while I am here at school for just a low cost each month.  I often get frustrated with this though because I find that it is hard to find good TV shows or movies on instant stream.

While I was home last week, sick.  I spent a large amount of my time laying on the couch watching tv and sleeping.  I found that there are only so many talk shows you can watch before you start to get bored.  So I chose to use Netflix to watch something other than these stupid morning talk shows.  I thought it would be a good blog post to put up some of the movies and TV shows I found, in case of  my blog readers also have this problem on Netflix.

TV Shows Worth Watching!

1. Gossip Girl
I absolutely love this show. It is always a good choice on Netflix.
2. Greek
Just recently I started watching this show. I think it is actually pretty funny.

3. Laguna Beach
This is always a classic.

4. The Hills
Who doesn't love Lauren Conrad.

Movies Worth Watching!

1. The Wedding Planner
Everybody loves a romantic comedy with JLO.

2. No Strings Attached
Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman such a great combination.

3. The Lorax
I love Dr. Seuss! This is a cute movie for people of all ages

4. The Switch
You can never go wrong with a movie that has Jennifer Aniston.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday (two)

I've been not feeling to well the past two days.  I am trying to stay positive that I won't get worse and miss workouts or classes.  I found an article, Power of Positivity , that talks about being positive.  It explains how being positive leads to optimal health both mentally and physically.

The Grammys

Sorry I meant to post this yesterday, but I had no free time.  As I mentioned in prior posts I am involved with Relay For Life. Yesterday I went to the Hope Lodge with several members from my committee to make dinner for the cancer patients staying there. The lodge is a place where cancer patients who are going through treatment can stay for free.  I was able to eat with several of the patients and their family. It was such a great experience.  It was definitely a rewarding way to spend my birthday.

Anyways... onto the Grammys.  I absolutely LOVED Adam Levine's performance and when he performed with Alicia Keys.  Below is a video from YouTube from their performances.

Monogrammed Binder Covers

For some reason I have just always been obsessed with school supplies.  I like everything to be color coded, organized, and of course cute!  For my education class my professor requires us to use binders.  I decided that a plain binder just was not going to work for me.  As I've mentioned before I love monograms. So I thought it would be a good idea to spruce up my binder with a monogram cover.

After doing some searching on the Internet I came across forchicsake.  This website has tons of cute things you can customize and print out: monogrammed calendars, wall decor, binder covers,  phone wall papers, etc.

I found a template for adorable monogrammed binder covers.  The website has tons of different patters, colors, and fonts.

I created mine in adobe reader and then took a screen shot (command, shift, 4) of it.  I then saved it to my computer, printed it out, and inserted it into the front cover of my binder.

This is what my binder now looks like!  It only took about five minutes to create.  The longest part of the process is choosing a pattern.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

I am a perfectionist.  Needless to say I do not like to make mistakes or admit to making mistakes.  Whether it be doing an art project, writing a paper, or playing field hockey... I am constantly striving for perfection, to be the best that I possibly can.  If something is not perfect than I become a harsh critic.  It's funny because I am usually rather not judgemental of others.  This critical eye only applies to myself.  In some ways I could be considered my own worst enemy.

Lesson to be learned today: Allow yourself to make mistakes.  Not all mistakes are bad.  In fact, good things can actually come from the mistakes you have made.
