Thursday Thoughts to Inspire Teachers

Teaching is not an easy task.  Some days are quite long and filled with stress.  Other days are fun and filled with happy moments. Each week has its ups and downs.  One of the things that I like to turn to after a bad day is an inspiration quote.  It's a nice pick me up and reminder to be happy.  Today I'm sharing ten quotes to inspire teachers.

A nice reminder that might make you feel less guilty on those days when you come home and just want to put your pajamas on as soon as you walk in the door.

This is to help fight off the Sunday scaries.

One of the perks to being a teacher is that you get to help shape the future of the world we live in.

The reality of being a teacher. A great lesson on paper can be fabulous or a total disaster.

A reminder that your bad day has to come to an end at some point.

The inspiration you will need on a Monday morning.

The reason why you have to show up to teach each day. Your students are counting on you.

There's a reason you chose to teach.  It's the profession that speaks to you.

Friday is hands down a teacher's favorite day of the week.  One- it's closer to the weekend. Two- Fridays are usually casual dress down days.

A reminder that what you do is important.

What inspires you to go to work each day?

XOXO

September's Monday Motivation

It's Monday, which means it's the start of a new week. For some of us summer ended yesterday and for others it will end today or tomorrow. Labor Day Weekend seems to always resemble the ending of summer and beginning of fall.  By this time everyone has gone back to school and reality is kicking in.  We are preparing our fall bucket lists, establishing new routines, doing fall cleaning, and looking forward to a break in the hot temperatures.

Mondays have their pros on cons. They are great because they present an opportunity for a fresh start.   However, they also are a downer because they represent another work and/or school week. I'm working to change my attitude about Mondays and go with the first option of looking at them like a new opportunity.

It's definitely easier to be negative than positive in certain situations. I think Mondays can be a time when it's easier to look at all the negatives rather than the positives.  This week I'm challenging you to look at life on the positive side rather than dwell on all the bad things going on.

Have a great week!

XOXO

October's Motivational Monday

We all know Mondays can be the ultimate struggle. This week Monday is a day filled with relaxation  for me, since it's my university's Fall Break.  However, I wanted to provide those of you who don't have Fall Break with a little Monday Motivation.  This month's motivation is centered around the following quote.

A line in one of Taylor Swift's popular songs from this past year.  Shake it off. These three words have a great amount of meaning behind them. There are so many things that are worth shaking off in life.  It isn't worth our time to hold onto the little things in life that might be bothering us.  We cannot afford to walk around everyday letting the words of others tear us down.  Letting others bring us down prohibits us from succeeding. We cannot let the rude cashier at the grocery store get the best of our good mood. We cannot let the driver, of the car, that cut us off in the morning commute turn our morning into one filled with anger.  A few bad things in a day, should not turn our whole day into a bad one. It is how we react to all of these "bad moments" that dictate how the rest of our day will be.  Living a life filled with optimism requires us to shake it off frequently.  If we shake things off, then we will be able to live a happier life.

XOXO

Motivational Monday

What makes your soul happy?
Summer is the perfect time to figure this out.  The month of July allowed me time to begin to figure this out for myself. I had a ton of free time and was able to just chill out.  During the school year I am constantly on the go and don't have much time to just be.  This summer I have been figuring the things out that make my soul happy.  These are the things that I do for fun, not the things I have to do. During the past month I have been reading The Happiness Project, which I have found to be very inspiring. I would like to think that in the near future I might do my own variation of a Happiness Project.

So what are some things that make me happy?
Spending time with family and friends
Iced Tea (preferably sweet)
Inspirational Quotes
Reading
Blogging
Doing something that makes others happy
Crafting
Afternoon Naps
Playing field hockey
Volunteering
Running
Laughing
Good Food

What are some things that make you happy?
XOXO

Wednesday Wisdom

Life lately has been extremely busy. I thought that things would calm down since it is summer, but apparently I was wrong. Between classes, spending time with family and friends, and working I have had very little down time... hence my lack of posts lately.  I cannot believe that I only have five more days left of classes.  The past four weeks have flown by!

"The secret of being happy is accepting where you are in life and making the most out of everyday."

With everything going on I often find myself wondering where each week has gone.  Time is going by so quickly.  This quote was a nice reminder for me to take a step back and realize how many things I am appreciative to have going on in my life.

When life gets busy remember to take a step back to take time to smell the flowers, get coffee with a good friend, go for that run you've been putting off, or read a few pages from that summer book you haven't had time to read.

Friday Five: Maya Angelou

Happy Friday!

This week one of my favorite poets passed away, Maya Angelou. She was an amazing woman and accomplished so much throughout the duration of her life.  I remember my mom making memorize one of her poems, when I was young, and ever since then I have always admired the woman for her strength and courage.
This article from CNN describes some highlights from Maya Angelou's life.

Today's Friday five are quotes from Maya herself.

Enjoy your weekend!

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

Day Three of Blogmas!

A few words of wisdom to get you through the week.

Beauty can be defined in so many different ways.  How people view your appearance.  The way your body appears.  What makeup you are wearing.  How kind you are to others.  What you have accomplished.  The confidence you have.  The smile you let everyone see.  How intelligent you are.  How you treat those who are around you.  The way you live your life.  How you live with your flaws.  The list could go on.

In today's society it is easy to get wrapped up in the misunderstanding that beauty originates from how others view you, what you wear, what your body looks like, who you are friends with, etc. However, there is so much more to true beauty than all of this. Tt is important to remember that beauty starts from within oneself and then moves outward for others to see.  You need to be comfortable and confident in who you are as a person.  This will then be evident in your behaviors for others to see your real beauty.  It is important to respect yourself and remember that others comments do not matter because as long as you feel good about yourself, then you really are beautiful.

October's Daily Inspiration

Quotes are something that I find incredibly inspiring.  I have them posted all over my room, bulletin boards, and my agenda.  Those days when things just are not going your way, they are a nice little pick me up.  I have tweeted quotes in the past, but mid way through October I developed the concept of #dailyinspiration.  You are familiar with this if you already follow me on twitter
Just about once a day I try to post a quote or inspirational phrase.  I do this to help motivate myself as well as my followers.

Recently, I have noticed that a large amount of people use twitter and other forms of social media as their own personal diary.  Some people say literally whatever is on their mind, and this can sometimes be hurtful to others, intentionally or unintentionally.  Regardless, some nasty things are said about/ directed toward people, and this is unacceptable. By posting daily inspiration, I am trying to incorporate more positivity into the social media world.  After all, negativity isn't going to get you anywhere but stuck in your bad mood.

October 9:
"Nobody is in charge of your happiness, except you."
October 14:
"Success is not what you have but who you are."
October 16:
"Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching."
October 17:
"Life is meant to be a challenge, because challenges are what make you grow."
October 20:
"Don't wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect."
October 21:
"Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you will criticized for it anyways."
-Eleanor Roosevelt
October 22:
"If you desire to make a difference in this world, you must be different than the rest of the world."
October 23:
"Two things define you: your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything."
October 24:
"Once you've excepted your flaws, nobody can use them against you."
October 25:
"Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
October 28:
"People with a good sense of humor have a better sense of life."
October 29:
"Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway."
October 30:
"If plan A doesn't work, don't worry. There are 25 other letters in the alphabet."
October 31:
"We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly."

Appreciation ABC's

Sometimes it is important to take a step back and be thankful for all the great things in your life.  About a month ago Gina Alyse had a great post about that and she inspired me to do something similar.

The ABC's of what I appreciate and what I am thankful for in life

A-Academics, it is because of the importance of this I will, hopefully, have a job in the future.

B- My brother, we are three and a half years apart. He is younger than me, but we get along so well. He is one of my best friends. Life would be so different without him, I would be an only child. Such an odd thought.

C- The opportunity I had the past two months to help coach my high school field hockey team.  This was the first time in seven years that I did not play field hockey in the Fall because I transferred to a different college.  Coaching really filled the void I had from not playing.  I always knew I wanted to become a coach, I just never imagined that it would happen this early on in my life.  Yesterday ended the season, but I am so thankful that I was able to spend the time I did helping younger girls improve as an athlete.

D- My dad, he inspires me every day and is one of my biggest supporters. His wise words always help guide me through difficult times.

E- Encouragement, words that inspire me to keep going and be better.

F-Friends and family. Those people who pick me up when I am down.  Who have been there for me since day one. Provide me with encouragement and advice.  Who love me unconditionally.

G- Getting a good night's rest.  I have been incredibly busy lately, and I have not been getting the amount of sleep that my body needs.  This makes me really appreciate the rare occasions that I get to sleep for an unlimited amount of time.

H- Being healthy.  I am fortunate to be healthy, not sick.  I also appreciate the fact that I am able to eat rather healthy with little effort to avoid junk food.

I- The inspiration I get from pinterest.

J- Naked Juice.  This stuff is seriously the best. I drink it multiple times a week. It is a great mid day booster to provide you with energy.

K- Kind people, who care more about others than themselves.

L-All the love I have in my life thanks to my friends, family, boyfriend, dog, etc.

M- My mom, she is seriously the best.  Without her guidance and support, I would definitely be lost.  She constantly inspires me and helps me become a better person.  She is always there to cheer me up after a bad day.

N- Naps! I absolutely love napping, even if it is just a 20 minute power nap.

O- My optimistic outlook on things.  I think if I were a pessimistic person I would not be nearly as happy of a person as I am.

P- Pumpkin flavored everything.  I absolutely love anything pumpkin, and this time of the year is best for it.

Q- Quotes that bring me daily inspiration and motivate me when I need it.

R- Random acts of kindness.  When somebody says bless you when I sneeze, or holds the door open.  It is these small acts that make such a difference.

S- Sisters. My new Alpha Delta Pi sisters.  It is because of some of you that my transition into my new school is becoming easier lately.  I can't wait to get to know each of you better on our  journey of transitioning ADPi West Chester from a colony to an actual chapter.

T-  The time I get to spend doing nothing, just relaxing.

U- Uniqueness of every day.  No two days are identical to each other.

V- The small victories in life like going to put money in a parking meter and discovering that the person before you left some time for me.

W- Working out. In the past month or so I haven't been doing this regularly, but next week I can't wait to start doing this again.  It is exercising that provides my mind with clarity.

X- excellent home cooked meals I get, since I am commuting to school from home.

Y- You, my blog followers. A big thank you goes out to all of you. It is your viewing and commenting on my posts that encourages me to continue to blog each day. I love hearing your feedback, so please keep commenting.

Z- Zig zag patterns that create chevron

Take a moment to think about what you are thankful for.

Wednesday Pinsday

Fall break is over and it's back to school for me.  My "break" went to quickly.   I spent my two days off doing observations in a middle school science classroom.  I absolutely loved it.  It was refreshing to see what I am actually working towards doing.  I saw it as quality motivation to help me persevere through school.

My break was not all spent on school related things.  I was able to enjoy myself a little bit here and there.  I even spent some time perusing on pinterest.  In case you forgot, I am addicted to pinterest.  I try not to go on the website too frequently because I end up spending way too much time pinning when I should be doing other productive things.  Since I allowed myself to go on a pinning spree, I thought I would share with you some of my favorites.

I just found this picture to be so adorable.  It's one of those things that makes you smile.

I want the leopard print shoes so bad.  When I was at DSW last week, I almost bought a pair similar to these but I restrained myself from buying two pairs of shoes.

Lilly for men.  Love it! Personally, I like the looks of the two men on the right.  I think the lilly print pants are a bit obnoxious.  The lilly prints ties are perfect though.

Just some mid week inspiration for you. After today it's almost the weekend.

Pumpkin ice cream sandwiches. I am dying to make these, I just need to find the time to do so.  I love pumpkin flavored anything.

I have been look everywhere online for cute sorority lettered shirts, they are so expensive.  I would love to make my own.  I found this website that provides you with step by step directions. Have any of you ever made your own shirt with your letters on them?

It seems like the chilly Fall weather arrived yesterday.  I can't wait to wear fall clothes.  I think pinterest has the best inspiration for outfits.

I'm off to my first class of the day.
Have a great day!

Words of Wisdom (Ten)

I love this quote.  I think everybody can apply this or relate this to their lives in some aspect or another. It may be that you have a poor self image of your body or you don't feel that you are as intelligent as your peers.  Regardless, of what your weakness may be, always remember that you do have strengths.  Never forget that your strengths will outweigh your weakness, but that working on your weaknesses can also make you a stronger person.

Happy Wednesday!

Hump Day Humor

I was looking online for a good quote to post for a Words of Wisdom Wednesday post when I cam across this.

I thought it was rather comical.  Who doesn't love a little mid week laugh!

Words of Wisdom (nine)

Happy Wednesday!
I haven't done a words of wisdom Wednesday in awhile.  I was looking on pinterest when I stumbled across this quote.  I love it!
Often times I think we get caught up in the future and what is going to happen, and because of this we forget to enjoy what is going on in present time.  With not having classes right now, I have found it much easier to just live in the moment rather than planning for the future. Remember to take a step back and appreciate the small things when your life becomes chaotic or stressful.

Words of Wisdom (Eight)

Since it is the end of the semester for most of us (some have finished, some finish this week, while others still have several more weeks to go) I thought that this quote would be appropriate.  The end of the semester can be quite stressful between exams, papers, presentations, projects, etc.  So as you feel yourself getting overwhelmed at the end of the semester just remember to keep swimming because soon enough you will actually be swimming at the pool or in the ocean.  For one of my projects I have to create my own school, so I am making it finding nemo themed, which is the second reason I found this quote to be appropriate.

Happy Wednesday!
You are half way through the week!

Relay Week Post #2

Countdown: 3 days left
Money raised: $57
Goal:$500

Each week this semester every person on the committee has made 2-3 posters.  The posters are going to be hung up all around the track that we will be walking around on Saturday night.  Pictured above  are some of the posters I have made throughout the semester.  My favorite one is the pink and leopard one. I felt that this post was appropriate for words of wisdom Wednesday.
