What's Class?

What's class again I seem to have forgotten, since I have not been to one in five and a half weeks.  Well, yesterday afternoon I was reminded what it was.  It was first day of Spring semester. I've never had a semester start on a Thursday afternoon, but I guess there is a first for everything.

I am still commuting this semester, which meant I had to leave early to get to class on time today. I got there with thirty minutes to kill until my first class, bio lab, started.  After circling the parking lot for a good ten minutes, I finally found a spot and waited in my car for a bit.  The temperature still hadn't reached the twenties so there was no way I was going to get out of my warm car just to walk around campus. Eventually I did venture out into the cold, to make it to my first class.  I got to the classroom to read a sign, No lab this week.  Great, two hours to spare until my next class. So what did I do- went to the library to read some blogs and write some future posts. Thank goodness I brought my laptop with me.

The rest of my day went well. I had two classes and a meeting.  Since yesterday was the first day, these classes were your typical syllabus class period- nothing special. My three classes today will probably be the same thing.

Now for the fun part!

What I wore:
Can you tell it was chilly?
Chestnut Uggs
Wool Socks
Dark Jeans from American Eagle
Black long sleeve shirt from Old Navy
Pink and black plaid scarf
Wool Sweater

Current Happenings

I am finally back on the blog, after a long macbook-less three weeks!
So what is currently happening in my life?

Currently I am home...
It's another snow day for this college girl.
I still have yet to start Spring semester. This is the longest winter break, I have officially been off for five and a half weeks. I'm enjoying every minute I have, before this hectic semester starts, to relax. Today I plan on using my free time to catch up on reading some of my favorite blogs, writing future posts, and hopefully getting a little crafting in too.

Currently I am listening to...
 Ingrid Michaelson on Pandora
This station has such a nice combination of music.  I always enjoy it when a song I have never heard comes on!

Currently on Instagram..
Be sure to check out this morning's post and other fun pictures by
following me on instagram- shorelifeofmqs

Currently I am wearing...
a cute and comfortable outfit for lounging around the house
Black skinny yoga pants from Aerie
Black and White Striped boot socks from Jcrew
L.L. Bean Moccasins
Gray v-neck tee from Gap
Plum cardigan from Gap

Currently I am drinking...
Red Zinger tea
It is so cold out right now that warm beverages will be the drink of choice today.  A winter storm hit us yesterday, and left my area with about a foot of snow.  Currently it is five degrees but feels like negative fourteen, according to my weather channel app.

Currently I am loving..
Candles
Actually this isn't anything new, I have always loved candles.  Oats and Honey is the scent currently burning in my room.

Blog Anniversary

Yesterday was The Shore Life According to M`s one year anniversary!
I`m still having computer issues, hence the reason why this post is really not that extravagant.
I feel like my blog has come so far in the matter of just one year. I still have so much to learn about the blogging world, but I am so excited to see what is to come in my blogging future. Blogging has so many opportunities.  The Shore Life According to M is still in the baby stages of the blogging world. I like to remind myself why I started blogging, and that blogging is not about the stats.  I do this as a hobby not as  job, although I would definitely have no complaints if blogging was my job.

Top 5 Posts from Year One:

These are  the top posts according to you,  my readers. The posts with the most views. Surprisingly two of them were from my second month of blogging!
Five// Wednesday Pinsday

Goals For Year Two:

One// Host a blog giveaway.
Two// Participate in more link ups.
Three// Reach 350 posts.
Four// Connect with more bloggers similar to me.
Five// Plan posts ahead of time.

Here is to another year of blogging!
xoxo

P.S. Hopefully by the end of the week I will be getting a new laptop,
which means back to regular posts!

Some Days You`re The Pigeon

Some times life brings you lemons and you have no choice but to make lemonade.

I had so many ideas of posts for the new year, and unfortunately they are all gone now.  Yesterday a series of unfortunate events happened, and it ended with my macbook being ruined.  I took it to the Apple store but the geniuses were unable to repair it.  So for the time being I will be without a laptop. Luckily, I still have two weeks before the semester begins so I have some time to figure things out.  In the mean time I`ll be blogging from my mom`s iPad, so please bare with me for a little while.

Every thing happens for a reason, and from all of this I am learning how to stay calm in frustrating situations.

Goal Setting

For the past  month I have spent a lot of time thinking about New Year resolutions.  A large amount of people make fitness oriented goals, or they create a list that just is not realistic.  I decided that this year I wanted to take New Year resolutions to a new level.  I'll be twenty next month, and I feel like there is still so much that I haven't done in life.  What better time to start exploring everything out there than now.  I've read some blogs where bloggers have done 101 things in 1001 days.  After thinking about it, I decided that this would be a perfect thing to do to begin a New Year.  I'm not going with the whole "new year new me" motto, but instead it's a new year more adventurous me.

What is it?
So if you have no idea what 101 things in 1001 days is, I'm sure you are very curious.  The idea is to make goal setting more realistic, but to add some dream things into it too.  You create a list of 101 things to do across 1001 days.  It is pretty self explanatory, but I really think the concept of this is awesome. I hope to inspire at least one other person to do this challenge, if you decide to do this too let me know!
Believe it or not, it is by no means easy to think of 101 things to do.  I am still creating my list but for now here is what I have. Check out my 101 in 1001 tab for updates as I add more things to my list, and I begin to complete things.

Fresh Start

Many people view the start of a new year as a fresh start.  I've decided that it's time to clean up some things for this "fresh start" of a new year. I decided to start with some social media cleaning.

Pandora
Most people have had a pandora account for quite some time now.  I don't know a single person who only has listened to one or two stations since they have created their account.  During my new year cleaning I went from 32 stations to 10 on pandora.  I definitely don't listen to all of the stations I had, and now my account looks so much cleaner.

Pinterest
Who doesn't love pinterest? We all pin things then never look at them again. I am definitely guilty.  I had 70 boards and 2,154 pins before I did my cleaning.  Post cleaning I ended up with 40 boards and 1,831 pins.  I purged boards/pins I never used, pins that had bad links, and pins I pinned multiple times.

Facebook
Facebook friends. They have quite the variety. There are those people you met one time through a friend of a friend, family members, close friends, classmates, etc.  After awhile you realize that you don't talk to or care about some of these people.  This is when you know it's time for a Facebook clean out.  Recently I went through and deleted close to 100 "friends".

Phone
Clean out your phone. If you go through it, I bet you would be surprised how many contacts you don't need, how many old pictures you have, or notes saved that have become useless. I went through and deleted all my messages.  In the past year there has been a lot of drama, so it felt good to clear it all and start the new year with a clean slate.  I also deleted over 1,000 pictures.

Cleaning out my social media felt nice, it was like a technology cleanse.
