Three Weeks to Finals

Believe it or not the semester is quickly coming to an end.  It seems like just last week I was writing posts about the beginning of the school year, decorating my apartment, and navigating my first week of classes.  Next week is Thanksgiving Break and then there's only a couple more weeks left of classes and exams.  While this means we are all closer to winter break, it also means we are that much closer to the dreaded finals week.  This weekend I spent some time mapping out how I will spend the upcoming weeks preparing so that the last week of the semester isn't too awful.

Three Weeks Out:
While you may feel like you're still drowning with regular assignments, it's time to begin the preparations. In three weeks you will be embarking on Finals Week. So where to begin? Start by getting out your syllabus for all of your classes.  On a sheet of paper, write down each of your courses.  Under each course, list out all of the assignments, readings, and exams for the rest of the semester.  Next to each of these assignments place the date that they are due.  This will help you keep track. Look at your calendar and begin to figure out when you have time to get each assignment done.  I like to set tentative deadlines for myself.

Two weeks Out:
Look over your list of assignments you made during the week before.  Cross off any items you have already completed.  Check to see if you are on track to meet the deadlines you set for yourself.  Begin to make study guides for any final exams you have.  Make sure to go to the gym and eat well this week. It's important to take care of your body and mental health now so that you are entering finals week mentally and physically strong.

One Week Out:
Make flash cards and begin studying hard for each exam you have.  Attend any review sessions that are offered.  Finish your final draft of any term papers and ask a friend of teacher to help you revise it.  It is crucial that you make the most of your "free time" this week.  If you don't, then you will be paying for it during finals week.

Finals Week:
Put the finishing touches on your term papers and do any last minute studying. Sometimes it is helpful to meet with friends who are taking the same exam to study together.  Get some sleep, eat well, and allow for some down time.

Good luck! You're almost done with the semester.

Planning Decisions

As you have probably read by now, I love the Lilly Pulitzer agendas.  July is half way over so it's time for me to order my new agenda. Freshman and sophomore year of college I used the large style, but junior year I chose to upgrade to the jumbo size.  I enjoyed the larger version, but the spiral that held it together fell apart mid way through the year and it was a bit too large to carry around.  After last year's mishap I have decided to go back to using the large agenda. I love that the large version has two copies of the monthly outlook of each month. This allows me to keep track of sorority events on one calendar and my personal life on another. This year Lilly has come out with a covered spine version of the large agenda and I can't decide if I should purchase that one or the original version.  These are the two that I am debating between and would love to hear your thoughts!

Which one should I buy?

Two More Mondays

That's right, only two more Mondays left until the semester is over! This is like music to my ears, but it's also a little stressful too! I know I've blogged about it a ton this semester, but this has been an incredibly rough semester...needless to say I'm ready for it to be over.

The end of the semester entails a significant amount of exams, papers, and projects.  Not only am I busy academically, but the end of the semester is also filled with sorority events too(philanthropy events, formals, last minute workshops, etc.).
The only way I stay sane is by being incredibly organized. I would not be able to survive the next two and a half weeks without the help of my agenda.
Before I write everything in my agenda, I compile a list with all the due dates for each class.

I use the monthly view to write everything down, so that I am able to see it all in one place. I then use the individual days to write my daily to do lists and/or things that I need to remember. I have tons of to do lists since I write a new one every day.

How do you stay organized during the end of the semester chaos?

Almost Nineteen..

Tomorrow is my birthday so this weekend was my "Birthday Weekend".  It was definitely a good one! Friday night my boyfriend, tDn, came down to visit me.  Saturday my parents came down and took me out to dinner.  Finally, last night I spent time with jHg and friends.

Gifts from my parents:

They bought me the navy blue lands end vest I had put on my wish list in a previous post. AND they got it monogrammed in pink with my initials.  It is so cute.  I was so excited!

They also bought be a book on Paris.  It's about french Design, Style, & Flavors.  The photographs inside it are stunning. I can not wait for the day I get to go there.

Gifts from tDn:

He got me an home, which I have been wanting since my old one broke this summer.
Since I won't seem him on Valentine's Day, he also gave me my gifts.
