Summer Slumber

The hot summer weather can make it difficult to sleep, especially if you don't have central air!  There are a few things you can do to make sure you get a better slumber in the summer.

Drink a Glass of water before bed
Tossing and turning in your sleep can cause you to sweat, which leads to dehydration. If you are hydrated you will stay cooler and have a more sound sleep.

Take a cold shower
Cooling off before bed will allow you to relax more once you lay down.

Increase the airflow
Open the windows all the way and make sure you have an oscillating fan on.

Cool side of the pillow
Create your own cool side of the pillow by placing your pillow case in the freezer 30 minutes before going to bed. This will give you a chilly pillow.

Dress lightly
Ditch those wintery pajama pants and replace them with cotton or another breathable material. This is my favorite recommendation because it requires a shopping spree!

I love pajama sets, so recently I have been in search of the perfect summer pajama set.  During Memorial Day Weekend, JCrew Factory was having a sale and I happened to find the set that I had been looking for. You can find them here and here. They also have several other options, which are great for sleeping in the heat. You can look at them here

What are your go to summer pajamas?

XOXO

  1. I think I'm going to start taking a cool shower before bed. My husband remarks almost every night how hot I am (temperature wise). And I have found myself with a damp shirt in the AM from sweating during the night.

  3. I've been so hot lately at night before I realized that the switch was still flipped on my fan. I was getting no cool air... I felt like such a dummy.

  4. I love the pineapples! They are so cute! I grew up when central air wasn't a big deal, and on nights when it was really hot, my mother would take us all for a random night dip in the pool. We'd come in, change into PJs and it was at least 10 degrees cooler.

  10. I love a cool pillow, but unfortunately our freezer is too small to fit them in there, haha! That's a great idea, though. I'm constantly flipping my pillow throughout the night. I find when I get super warm and none of those help, I grab an ice pack and cuddle with it. Being warm when I sleep bugs me!

  11. These PJ are probably the cutest things I've ever seen!! Also, yes to drinking lots of water before bed! I use to be so good at doing it, but now I've gotten lazy and can definitely feel a mood difference in the morning. Need to get better at drinking water before bed!
