Cute Halloween Costumes

I will be the first to say that I don't really like Halloween.  I don't  enjoy dressing up and I am not a huge candy lover either.  Halloween has never been my thing, even when I was a child. I drove my mom crazy every year when it came to choosing a costume. I could never decide what to be until the night before or the day of Halloween.

With this said, I am dressing up for a costume party this weekend, but I bought items that I could wear again besides just for the costume. I will post about this in the near future.

I think the best Halloween costumes are for children.  They are too cute. One of the reasons I am excited to be home for Halloween is so that I can see the younger kids' adorable costumes.

Here are some of my favorites from pinterest.

Happy Halloween!

Random Acts of Kindness

Some times it is the little things in life that can make some one's day.  These random acts of kindness, just a small kind gesture, can make it a long way.

One of the differences I have noticed about transferring to a new college is that not all students everywhere perform these small acts. I don't know if this is the difference between a small private college and a public university or what, but there is clearly a difference between the two institutions.  For example, yesterday in my 60 person lecture I sneezed.  Take a guess at how many people said bless you...one.  Just one person out of all the people in the room.  I find that a little disheartening.  Why don't people have manners?

Anyways, enough of the complaints. I try to be kind to every one on campus and who I encounter in life by performing random acts of kindness such as; holding the door open, saying please and thank you, saying bless you when somebody sneezes, leaving money in the parking meter for the next person to use, saying have a good day after a cashier rings you up, and simply by just being friendly.  None of these things are difficult to do if you are consciously make sure to do them. In fact, a lot of these things just come natural to people.

"Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and underrated agent of human change"
-Bob Kerrey

Kindness Ideas:

Donate used books to the library
Hold the door open for someone
Provide the elderly with the gift of music at a retirement home
Help children learn
Help someone for free
Let someone go in line in front of you
Pay the tab for the person behind you in line
Return your shopping cart
Pick up trash
Be a designated driver
Be kind to somebody you do not like
Randomly send flowers to somebody you love
Donate a $1 to a local cause
Say thank you to people
Offer someone a piece of gum
Complain less
Post a positive comment on a picture or blog
Hand write a thank you note
Share your umbrella

The list is endless, but these are a few things that you can do with lithe effort.  If you visit randomactsofkindess.org there are tons of ideas how you can perform random acts of kindness, how to teach this to your children/students, and so many more fun things dealing with kindness.

I challenge you to perform at least one random act of kindness today!

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

I know the topic of pumpkin spice is probably getting old for those of you who are avid blog readers.  My apologies, I can't not write this post!

I am not a huge coffee fan, so pumpkin spice coffee is not my thing. The only coffee I like is iced coffee and it has to be really sweet.  I am certainly a tea lover. Hot or cold it doesn't matter, I love it all.

Year round, I enjoy drinking chai tea.  Chai tea latte from Starbucks is delicious, hot or iced.  In the Fall I usually ask for pumpkin spice in it. I also make it at home too, TAZO has a great chai tea.  I usually make this and add some half and half to it.

About a month ago my mom and I were shopping at Target, when we stumbled upon Pumpkin Chai Concentrate.  It's a TAZO seasonal product.  This is even better than regular TAZO chai tea bags!
It is incredibly easy to make.  All you have to do is fill a cup half way with milk, and fill the other half of the cup with the pumpkin spice chai.  You can heat it up or enjoy it over ice.  I prefer it cold rather than hot.  I highly recommend it!

I am officially a member of The Her Campus Blogger Network.  I applied in August, and I just found out last week that I have been accepted. I am thrilled to be a member of this network and the opportunities it has.  I am in the process of expanding my blog, so this is definitely a step in the right direction!

Lilly Pulitzer- Sorority Sale

Happy Saturday!

The other day one of my sisters informed me that Lilly Pulitzer was having a sale on some of their sorority prints.

All sorority printed picture frames are currently $8, plus there is free shipping too.  This is such a good deal.  The frames come in the following sorority prints: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi, and Sigma Kappa.

I am debating purchasing one because they are usually like $28.  This is such a bargain!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone!
I have not done a Friday's Favorites post in a long time, so I thought I would share one with all of you tonight.

Friday Five:

one: Lorde Radio on Pandora
Obsessed would be an understatement.  I discovered it last Sunday, and it has been playing on my laptop/ phone ever since.  With all the time I spend in the car, I am getting tired of the top 100 songs that play continuously on the radio.  Lorde Radio on Pandora provides you with quite the variety of songs to listen to, which I am enjoying very much.

Two: Pumpkin Spice Chai Lattes
Just like everyone else in the world, I love everything pumpkin flavored.  This week I have had two Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea lattes. The first was Monday, when my brother and I had some sibling bonding time.
The second was this morning when my first class got done 25 minutes early, and there was no line at the Starbucks on campus (this hardly ever happens).  With the cold weather we had this week, chai tea has been keeping me warm.

Three: This Fall Weather
This week the Fall weather has definitely arrived.  I finally pulled my heavy sweaters, knit scarves, and jackets out of storage.  This weather is perfect. I love the cool crisp air.  Also, it is nice fashionably speaking too.  I'm loving the sweater and boots combinations. I still have yet to bring my uggs out though, in case you were wondering.

Four: Buffalo Chicken Pasta
This week tDn and I made dinner. It was delicious. If you follow me on instagram, then you saw what the final product looked like.
The picture doesn't do justice to how delicious it tasted.  If you're looking for a relatively easy dinner, check out the recipe here

Five: How Productive I have been this week
I am finally starting to get ahead in my classes.  Since high school field hockey season has ended, I am no longer busy with coaching every day after school.  This has given me so much more time to focus on my school work.  The first half of the semester I felt like I was doing just enough work to get by each day. I am an incredibly organized person, so not being ahead in every class has been driving me crazy.  FInally being ahead has definitely relieved some stress for me.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Naked Juice

Recently I have re-discovered my love for Naked Juice.  My mom started buying it in large amounts, so it has been in the fridge.  Naked juice tastes delicious and it is good for you.  It makes the perfect breakfast or snack.  It's a serving a fruit or vegetables, depending what flavor you consume.

The company that produces Naked Juice is rather environmentally friendly too. They have a partnership with the rain forest alliance, they have efficient packaging by bottling their juices in square bottles, and they use reNEWable bottles.

My two favorite flavors are Mighty Mango and Green Machine.

Appreciation ABC's

Sometimes it is important to take a step back and be thankful for all the great things in your life.  About a month ago Gina Alyse had a great post about that and she inspired me to do something similar.

The ABC's of what I appreciate and what I am thankful for in life

A-Academics, it is because of the importance of this I will, hopefully, have a job in the future.

B- My brother, we are three and a half years apart. He is younger than me, but we get along so well. He is one of my best friends. Life would be so different without him, I would be an only child. Such an odd thought.

C- The opportunity I had the past two months to help coach my high school field hockey team.  This was the first time in seven years that I did not play field hockey in the Fall because I transferred to a different college.  Coaching really filled the void I had from not playing.  I always knew I wanted to become a coach, I just never imagined that it would happen this early on in my life.  Yesterday ended the season, but I am so thankful that I was able to spend the time I did helping younger girls improve as an athlete.

D- My dad, he inspires me every day and is one of my biggest supporters. His wise words always help guide me through difficult times.

E- Encouragement, words that inspire me to keep going and be better.

F-Friends and family. Those people who pick me up when I am down.  Who have been there for me since day one. Provide me with encouragement and advice.  Who love me unconditionally.

G- Getting a good night's rest.  I have been incredibly busy lately, and I have not been getting the amount of sleep that my body needs.  This makes me really appreciate the rare occasions that I get to sleep for an unlimited amount of time.

H- Being healthy.  I am fortunate to be healthy, not sick.  I also appreciate the fact that I am able to eat rather healthy with little effort to avoid junk food.

I- The inspiration I get from pinterest.

J- Naked Juice.  This stuff is seriously the best. I drink it multiple times a week. It is a great mid day booster to provide you with energy.

K- Kind people, who care more about others than themselves.

L-All the love I have in my life thanks to my friends, family, boyfriend, dog, etc.

M- My mom, she is seriously the best.  Without her guidance and support, I would definitely be lost.  She constantly inspires me and helps me become a better person.  She is always there to cheer me up after a bad day.

N- Naps! I absolutely love napping, even if it is just a 20 minute power nap.

O- My optimistic outlook on things.  I think if I were a pessimistic person I would not be nearly as happy of a person as I am.

P- Pumpkin flavored everything.  I absolutely love anything pumpkin, and this time of the year is best for it.

Q- Quotes that bring me daily inspiration and motivate me when I need it.

R- Random acts of kindness.  When somebody says bless you when I sneeze, or holds the door open.  It is these small acts that make such a difference.

S- Sisters. My new Alpha Delta Pi sisters.  It is because of some of you that my transition into my new school is becoming easier lately.  I can't wait to get to know each of you better on our  journey of transitioning ADPi West Chester from a colony to an actual chapter.

T-  The time I get to spend doing nothing, just relaxing.

U- Uniqueness of every day.  No two days are identical to each other.

V- The small victories in life like going to put money in a parking meter and discovering that the person before you left some time for me.

W- Working out. In the past month or so I haven't been doing this regularly, but next week I can't wait to start doing this again.  It is exercising that provides my mind with clarity.

X- excellent home cooked meals I get, since I am commuting to school from home.

Y- You, my blog followers. A big thank you goes out to all of you. It is your viewing and commenting on my posts that encourages me to continue to blog each day. I love hearing your feedback, so please keep commenting.

Z- Zig zag patterns that create chevron

Take a moment to think about what you are thankful for.

Wednesday Pinsday

Fall break is over and it's back to school for me.  My "break" went to quickly.   I spent my two days off doing observations in a middle school science classroom.  I absolutely loved it.  It was refreshing to see what I am actually working towards doing.  I saw it as quality motivation to help me persevere through school.

My break was not all spent on school related things.  I was able to enjoy myself a little bit here and there.  I even spent some time perusing on pinterest.  In case you forgot, I am addicted to pinterest.  I try not to go on the website too frequently because I end up spending way too much time pinning when I should be doing other productive things.  Since I allowed myself to go on a pinning spree, I thought I would share with you some of my favorites.

I just found this picture to be so adorable.  It's one of those things that makes you smile.

I want the leopard print shoes so bad.  When I was at DSW last week, I almost bought a pair similar to these but I restrained myself from buying two pairs of shoes.

Lilly for men.  Love it! Personally, I like the looks of the two men on the right.  I think the lilly print pants are a bit obnoxious.  The lilly prints ties are perfect though.

Just some mid week inspiration for you. After today it's almost the weekend.

Pumpkin ice cream sandwiches. I am dying to make these, I just need to find the time to do so.  I love pumpkin flavored anything.

I have been look everywhere online for cute sorority lettered shirts, they are so expensive.  I would love to make my own.  I found this website that provides you with step by step directions. Have any of you ever made your own shirt with your letters on them?

It seems like the chilly Fall weather arrived yesterday.  I can't wait to wear fall clothes.  I think pinterest has the best inspiration for outfits.

I'm off to my first class of the day.
Have a great day!

Weekend Happenings

This weekend and the next two days are technically considered my Fall Break.  Typical for my life right now, today was really my only day off for my four day weekend.  This weekend was filled with so many joyful things, and I am so thankful for everything in my life right now.

Friday night I was still feeling a little sick, but my mom wanted me to come to Target with her so I went along.  Well, we ended up going to a few other places in addition to Target.  My favorite place being Designer Shoe Warehouse, DSW.  I have been wanting a pair of nude heals, and Friday I finally found the perfect pair.  They are padded in just the right places, and these are seriously so comfortable.  My mom, a teacher who spends her entire day on her feet, even bought the same
 pair in black.
Saturday morning I volunteered at the run for life with the high school team that I coach.  One of the girl's organized it to raise money for suicide awareness, as her graduation project.  The event ended up raising over $3,500.  The morning was filled with such a positive feeling.  The reason that the run occurs is because two years ago a girl on the team took her life, I shared this story with you about a month ago.  This event first started last year, it had a somber feeling because the incident was just too fresh.  I was thrilled to see the turn out and attitude of the event was so much better this year.  The participants wearing the teal shirts were family members of the girl who passed away.  It was great to see how much support the community provided too.

After the race, I spent the rest of the day with tDn.  We went out to a late lunch for our anniversary.  Tuesday will be our three year anniversary, but we go to different schools and our schedules don't coordinate so we celebrated early.  We both love sushi, so this was an obvious choice for us.  After lunch we exchanged gifts. It turns out great minds think alike because we literally got each other the exact same thing.  What are the chances of that happening?
Apparently the Kindle Fire HD is where it's at!  I'll be honest if I had the choice I would have chosen an Ipad, but so far I am loving my kindle.  I am getting used to it, so if any of you have tips or suggestions feel free to help a fellow blogger out!

We ended our night by getting pumpkin ice cream at a local ice cream shop.
Fun Fact: I went the whole month of September without eating ice-cream.
I got chocolate and pumpkin, and he got caramel swirl and pumpkin.  It was quite delicious, but then again anything pumpkin is tasty.

This weekend I also found out that I will be visiting my best friend in less than 50 days! My dad is going up for a game with his friends, and my schedule ended up being free that weekend so I will be able to see mIr. I am so excited to see my best friend, being apart is no easy task.

Sunday Funday:
Today I spent the day getting things done around the house.  Being sick and overwhelmed with exams last week, my room became a disaster. I like things organized, especially my room, so it was driving me crazy.  I re-organized my closet: putting some summer clothes in storage and adding Fall clothes to my closet. Confession: I absolutely love my closet and the shelving in it.

I also cleaned my bathroom today, and I realized that my bottle of perfume is empty! Such a sad moment, I love my perfume.  It's something I get every year for Christmas, so I'll have to go a couple months without it.

Overall, this weekend was a really great one.  The next two days I will be doing observations in the classroom, which I am very excited about.  This will be my first time in the classroom, as an education major.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
